Regardless of your opinions on the film (and James Gunn apparently liked it, a lot, and not just in a PR way), hiring the exact same creative team behind The Flash, which was a massive bomb, is certainly a choice.
As is hiring the writer of a movie that was apparently so bad that [his own co-CEO Peter Safran](https://variety.com/2023/film/news/batgirl-movie-shelved-dc-studios-head-peter-safran-1235506921/) deemed it “not releasable” and “would have hurt DC”. So either that first statement was complete BS, or this subsequent hiring is, and either way, someone’s coming out of this not looking good.

Why, given a whole bevy of potential writer choices at your fingertips, would you give your most important superhero to the woman behind fucking Birds of Prey (most notable for changing its own title in desperation and then losing to Sonic the Hedgehog anyway) and The Flash (legendary failure)?!

Playing devils advocate here…The Batman portions of the The Flash were very well done, it’s everything else that makes it essentially unwatchable…………….
