>“Wildwood” is based on Colin Meloy’s novels and directed by Travis Knight from a script by Chris Butler. It follows a girl’s desperate quest to save her baby brother, which becomes a high-stakes journey into a forbidden forest filled with enchanted creatures, unlikely allies and formidable adversaries, where an entire hidden realm hangs in the balance.

At long last! Interesting that they’re going with Fathom once more, instead of Focus or another major. Hope it’s their widest and longest release yet. Certainly would be great to see this make a whole bunch of cash in theaters.

Damn even the new Shaun the Sheep movie found an indie distributor 😭

No A-List for this one?

Fathom? Are Laika films that unprofitable that no regular or even indie distributor would pick it up? At least the studio is pocketed by Phil Knight, but not getting a regular release is rough.

Fathom winning a best animated feature Oscar as a distributor would be wild.

I guess AMC (co-owner of Fathom) is the exclusive theater chain for the next Laika film. Sucks that this is the only distributor willing to help, but I’m sure Travis Knight is happy to be taken from anyone. Like with Ketchup Entertainment and the Looney Tunes movie.

I hoped A24 could have distributed this. Fathom only advertises in theaters, so I don’t know the reach of their marketing. I can’t see this doing that well in the box office. At least they still having the backing of Phil Knight behind them, I wonder if they’re considering selling the company.

Fathom was really successful with that recent Coraline anniversary release. I remember that at least. 🤔
