The Italian box office was broadly flat in 2025, supported by a slew of successful local films that compensated for a weaker Hollywood slate.
Gross takings grew 0.5% year on year to €496.6m, while admissions fell 2% with 68.4 million tickets sold, according to figures published today by Italy’s box office organisation Cinetel.
A key factor in achieving the broadly stable performance was the success of Italian productions, which had a market share of 32.7% (€162.4m) of box office revenues – the best result for local films since 2016.
