The new ‘Lord of the Rings’ film is titled ‘THE HUNT FOR GOLLUM’

Andy Serkis will return as Gollum & also direct the film.

To be entirely fair, if you ARE going to plumb the Appendices (which is what this is), going with this as a tale and bringing back Serkis to star and direct its with PJ in the background too…is not a TERRIBLE idea, and is probably better than other things they might have come up with?

  2. Can we stop doing stuff about and around Gollum?? Like you got a whole fucking universe out there and you choose to focus on this creature holy shit

While I’m interested in more Middle Earth content, I would prefer a story involving other characters. I guess it’s a testament to how well Serkis portrayed Gollum that a movie starring him is being made, but there are so many more exciting parts of Middle Earth history that could be done.

Omg who fucking cares about Gollum he was a great side character but come on.

Gollum: “I didn’t kill my precious.”

Tommy Lee Jones: “I don’t care.”

This is why I read fantasy and scifi books nowadays. With Hollywood focused on creating creatively bankrupt reboots, sequels and spin-offs, I’m not going to see another great movie in those genres for a long time.

I absolutely love Lord of the Rings and a movie about Gollum does not interest me at all. Really missing the mark with this one. Give us Legolas and Strider meeting stories. Gollum is not an interesting character.

I can save them time: he fell into Mount Doom and was subsumed by the molten rock.

  9. The comments here remind me of when people heard David Fincher was going to make a Facebook movie.

“Who wants a film about liking and sharing pics of cats!”

The Hunt for Gollum is a fascinating story.

I think whoever greenlit this grossly overestimates the interest in Gollum.

Wow, I was like… maybe they’ll do something like the “infamous” game The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, and well, it’s kinda that way lol

im not sure why i should be excited about a fluff 3rd age prequel. this is just stretching the IP. its not interesting. its like another MCU movie or fast and furious movie.

the hobbit movies were terrible cause they were filled with fluff.

if they do this, id bet they stretch it to 3 movies and make it awful anyway. there is also no real story to tell.

I liked the idea of a 2nd age TV show, but it was executed like a bad comic book show. Studios are just milking the IP at this point.

  13. I feel like you could make a neat hour-long special of this, but a full movie? And they’re not going to release a 90-minute LOTR movie either; it’ll be *at least* two hours.

Seems tough to make that especially interesting, and I say that as a bigger defender of *The Hobbit* trilogy than most.

lol, didn’t they just make a gollum videogame that absolutely bombed. Zaslav has to be the dumbest motherfucker on earth.

    I have a bad feeling about this…

A perfect trilogy already exists and there’s no need for more movies.
