Sounds pretty similar to the plot of AI artificial Intelligence.

Sunny was insufferable. How about humans relating to other humans. I read the title as Sleep in the Box as a robot does not need a bed.
Oh so Plastic Memories, but less.
The fact that Kore-eda is directing this makes me think it’ll lean heavily into the grief aspect rather than the sci-fi tech.
