This movie fucking rules and was criminally underrated.

This was on my list for ages, and when I finally watched it I thought I knew what I was in for. I did not. Loved the movie but it altered my brain chemistry for the day.

I enjoyed the movie, but Theo Von Matt Damon and Ben Stiller as Ben Stiller were so distracting.

I mistook a sequence as reality and the film felt different until spouse corrected my misunderstanding.

Ridley Scott is one if my favourite directors and I read Eric Jager’s book and was familiar with the true story that inspired it, so I was really excited for this movie. I still liked the movie, but some of the storytelling choices did not sit right with me.
The reason the case is so fascinating and is still discussed all these centuries later is because nobody knows the definitive truth of it. For that reason, I didn’t appreciate the movie framing Marguerite’s account as the definitive truth. I think it would have been much more interesting if it had left things more ambiguous rather than beating the audience over the head.
