    1. This is so…pointless? I don’t care about any of these ‘achievements’ when you know they’re not real.

This is sponsored by Peter Thiel, so I’m a hard no on watching anything that freak supports. Not that I had any interest in this nonsense to start with.

conceptually I’m not against this. professional athletes of all kinds use PEDs in all different ways. and natural athletes deserve a level playing field in normal competitions.

but the list of backers is…. yelch.

    4. I have mutuals with a former Olympian competing. Their professional athlete career was winding down & they are getting paid very well (I think $100K?) just to compete

soooo we’re cool with this, but against trans people in sports and/or taking hormones at all… stupid as fuck people with no brains lmao

It’s fascinatingly poorly organized. Apparently insurance was super hard to get (shocker). The tech bros decided to redesign the sports stadium in a way with way worse sightlines. More stuff I don’t remember. This video covers it pretty well: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpaT9_H4ohA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpaT9_H4ohA)

So Russia gave up trying to break the rules of the standard Olympics and created this instead?

This seems extremely stupid. The athletes that participate on this will forever be marked by participating on this event.

Beating the WR by “just” .02 goes to show how *INCREDIBLE* that WR is

I’m not surprised athletes, specifically former Olympians are getting into this. The prize money is attractive (surpasses most normal track events) and the only tradeoff is not ever being able to compete in the Olympics again (which many were aging out of anyway). There’s also the risk of irreversible damage to one’s body but that’s true for any athlete.

They should have to ballmax to compete. Let’s see them swim with melon sized scrotes.

Thiel is gonna read this and have his interest piqued.

Damn, I don’t want to watch someone die though. This seems like a good way to be traumatized by live video.

From a scientific perspective, I actually think it would be interesting to see the differences between times/scores of fully doped up athletes compared to “all-natural”.

But with everyone who is backing this, it can go get fucked.

I know that for contact sports, being juiced is especially dangerous because of the risk of injury and death it posed to the opponent. Not looking forward to the headlines about that
