    Zohran Mamdani will become the first sitting New York Mayor to skip the Israel Day Parade since the inception of the event in 1964.

      It’s a day to celebrate the Nakbah. The violent removal of nearly a million Palestinians, and the slaughter of tens of thousands.

      Last time I was in Palestine, a great aunt who is in her 90s Mushallah, told me about how her brother was so desperate to feed his starving baby he tried to urinate into a bottle, but he was so malnourished nothing came out. That baby died. Others resorted to eating dirt.

      There’s been a globally sanctioned genocide for nearly 100 years and it feels like my heart wants to collapse.

      Mamdani is doing the right thing, a refusal to celebrate death. This should be the norm.
