      As a baseball fan, I love this. Advanced stats can be fun, but I feel like people let it override the actual fun parts of the game. Or the common sense parts (“great launch angle and over 100 mph off the bat, which is great” even though it’s a line out).

      It’s plainly obvious certain fans/writers revel in it because they feel like they’re actually involved in the sport when they’re not.

      I hate the Knicks but I love Josh Hart and he makes a good point here. I feel like the over emphasis on analytics is partly (or mostly) due to the heightened attention sports gambling has received. Analytics and projected statistics give people assurance that they’re not gambling on random chance.
