How are they going to top the original run? And why?

Remember when people had original ideas? Those were the days…

i would hope this would be a modern day take with new stories.
i had my doubts about CBS’s elementary series when i first heard about it, but that turned out well.

It’s a great time for these detective stories, between Young Sherlock, the Knives Out trilogy, and all the other adaptations. A new Poirot saga would be interesting.

A Poirot prequel isn’t the worst idea. I’d prefer that to a contemporary version Sherlock style.

I say this every time there’s a detective story reboot but I just want deeply in my heart of hearts a reboot of Columbo with Mark Ruffalo.

it’s gotta be Giamatti, right?

Cool. Don’t know why, though. Unless they have a really original take, otherwise good luck competing with Suchet.
Also, I think Toby Jones would be great.

Modern day, Toby Jones – I’d forgive it.
If the BBC do a faux-historic where they shoot two streets of bristol and the art deco house in westbury as their locations – stick everyone in very clean looking period costume, suddenly everyone is multi-cultural and progressive yet somehow it’s set in one of the darkest and conservative times in human history…? I think I will pass.

Simon Russell Beale please.

Peter Dinklage has been in few audiobooks as Poirot and would make a very good live action one too, I reckon.
Beyond that, it’s a monumental task to fill Suchet’s shoes and while the Branagh is a fine actor, his Poirot is distinctly American one with lot of unnecessary action and other nonsense to taint the overall story, imo.

David Suchet will regenerate into Billie Piper in the first episode.

I’ll take bad of sprouting potatoes over Branagh.
No new stuff being written?
David Suchet was perfect.
