If I were in his position, I would do exactly the same. You couldn’t catch me anywhere online, I’d have my (very well paid) assistant do it all and otherwise I’d just be floating around doing my thing.

I can’t say he’s ever struck me as someone who cares what the public thinks. Though I feel he may be very precious about the opinions of film critics and the academy.
