I’ve always liked Lethal Weapon 4 and Jet is one of the best things in it. He’s at his prime here.

Richard Donner with his best John Woo moment. Jet li and this choreography, doesn’t get any better.

I will contend there isnt a bad movie in this series.

Remember this was Li’s first appearance in an internationally made film, up to that point he was only known in Hong Kong cinema.
Also during this particular scene, he was so damn fast in his choreography that Donner deliberately asked him to slow down to get it filmed correctly within the scene.

This was the first Lethal Weapon I watched, I was around 6 or 7 and I was so floored by Jet Li that every time we went to Hollywood Video I’d look for movies with him, and that’s how I was introduced to Black Mask!

The casually brushing off the red-dot scope is what the kids would call “peak aura farming” these days (I think?).

Jet Li beating up on Mel feels so satisfying these days

This is such a good scene. The theme of the movie is that Riggs and Murtaugh are getting old and can’t quite keep up, and this scene is really the big reveal that they are out of their depth.
We’re used to seeing Riggs and Murtaugh brawl their way out of any conflict, even if it’s a stalemate. Here we are shown that they are hopelessly outclassed by the new villain and losing openly.

I don’t think Li has a single line of dialogue in this movie (or maybe one or two?) and he is still the best thing about it.
