Fuck this movie ripped so hard. One of the most fun theater experiences I can remember, had everyone yelling like we were watching a prize fight

I love this movie very much. I remember I was so excited at the theater that I got cramp on my leg.
I just wish they had made an easy explanation for some things. Like when the EMP took out the other wagers, and they started telling how Gypsy Danger was “analog”. Bruh, what? It sure as hell doesn’t look “analog”. Just say that Gypsy Danger was unaffected because it was powered down.
I was 16 when this came out and my only expectation was giant robots fight aliens and it did not disappoint.
It’s never too late for a proper sequel GDT!!!!

No no, shut up. I’m a lifelong anime and mecha fan, but this movie was just bad.
I think realistically humanity would kill these things pretty easily with missiles. Even the environmental issues could be avoided with specific types of warheads. They have munitions that can pierce a hundred meters of earth to kill underground structures I think those take them down easily. Use a low yield and aim for the head or vital organs.
they made a movie with so much aura. And then they created that god awful wannabe power rangers sequel.
Crazy how well these special effects and everything holds up. Great movie.

The people yearn for giant robots beating the shit out of kaiju
The cinematography of having ‘realistic camera’s ‘ really elevated the size and weight of the robots and monsters in this movie. So many shots feel voyeuristic and not faked with cgi camera moves. As if you were watching off of someone’s iPhone capturing the action. Something the 2nd movie completely abandoned and made the movie seem fake and goofy.
God i love this movie. Shame it never got a sequel.
One of the best things this movie did was make them slow moving to help give a sense of size.
