I’m a bit cautious about a show that’ll try to tackle Young Frankenstein, but if there’s anything that’ll give me some optimism, it’s that it’s from the WWDITS team (plus Zach & Cary Elwes as part of the cast)

      Okay, I’m cautiously optimistic.

Young Frankenstein is one of the greatest comedy films of all time imo, and if they can capture the humor of the original enough while doing something different (like the fantastic chip and dale movie) I’m all for it.

Plus, if it sucks we still have the original.

It’s fascinating that Mel Brooks is doing all of these sequels to his classics within the last few years. Like he’s 99 right? Wonder where the motivation to do all of this came from. Passion for his old projects? Money? Both?

In any case, It’ll be interesting how this and spaceballs 2 turns out. The History of the World Series wasn’t that great.

Not too long ago I was thinking about the potential for a version of Young Frankenstein that fits into the canon of the novel… and then I stopped when I realized how that inherently requires prodding at the novel in a manner that doesn’t really relate to its themes.
