this was an amazing setup that completely crashed and burned with the ending and season 2. my god, this had my entire workplace in a chokehold every week.
Fun fact: The Duffers worked on season one.
I remember enjoying it a ton…and there was a good, weird actress in it too I think….Juliette Lewis..??
I barely remember anything about this show except that they called the monsters “Abbies,” which was so unintentionally hilarious and they said it in the intro to every episode later on
It was really good until the big secret was revealed and made season 2 pointless.
Show had me in a chokehold while it was on.
The books are a crazy fast read, and it’s pretty surprising how closely the show followed them. Even S2, which was kind of a Frankenstein of the second and third books with some OC added in, managed to pluck some exact threads without changing much for TV. Really wish they were given the full 3-season run from the beginning, I recall they butchered S2 like that because of the uncertainty.
This show is based on a trilogy of books. It adapts the first one faithfully over the first half of season 1 and was very well received. As soon as they deviated from the source material, it fell apart.
I love shows about being trapped in towns (or islands) you cant escape.
Damn that’s a long article headline
I just finished the first book by Blake Crouch on Tuesday. I was hooked pretty early on but didn’t feel content with the ending (not bad but not great). I then looked up reviews for the show. I don’t know if it’s something I wanna get into; I saw the first season is solid but the second season…less so lol.
