NOW ARREST THAT COMPOSER!!!! (And yeah, apparently the whole thing was a scam.)

This is actually insane lol. They’re scamming people to pay for trips to Israel for already privileged 17/18 year olds and their families & a $16.5 million building in Israel.

      >Kars4Kids Chief Operating Officer Esti Landau testified that the charity’s “primary function” was to fund Oorah, which is dedicated to Jewish heritage summer camps in New York and New Jersey, per the court order. She also said that while 25% of the charity’s revenue comes from California, there are no programs in the state that benefit from Kars4Kids beyond a backpack drive “characterized as a branding exercise.”

      >Kids in need aren’t even really the target of the organization’s financial efforts. Instead, those go to 17- and 18-year-olds seeking gap-year trips to Israel and their families. Landau testified that $16.5 million even went to purchasing a building in Israel in 2022, and $437,000 was spent on “Middle East outreach.”

“The public interest is served by transparency in the ‘charity marketplace,’” the order reads. “When a charity generates millions annually through a ‘jingle’ that conceals its primary religious and geographic focus, it creates an unfair playing field for local California charities that are honest about their missions. An injunction ensures that competition for charitable dollars is based on truth, not catchy, content-free, deceptive songs.”

Yikes, that’s pretty egregious. Good call by the judge.

Wow my comment got deleted from this thread because I wrote explicitly to who these donation fraudsters send their money to.

Do a quick google search and you’ll be able to see that by donating to these thieves you’re sending your money to a “country” doing evil things.

Amazing job mods showing everyone who controls speech online. Really not dispelling any stereotypes there

    6. To be fair, buying a building is part of a mission (I say as I leave my nonprofit job in a $16 million dollar building)

But the rest of Kars4kids sucks

    7. I honestly think it’s fascinating how both how bad it is & how it’s badness has gotten so much attention.

    8. I learned years ago I can hit the off button on my car radio in one hi-hat splash.

    10. The fact that fucking Kars4Kids is actually a front for an orthodox Jewish missionary dedicated to convincing non-orthodox Jews to become orthodox is one of the most insane things. It sounds like something a maniac with undiagnosed schizophrenia and an Adderall addiction would be yelling about on the street corner, and yet it’s 100% true.

I saw this stupid ad on TV in Kansas the other day. I’ve known that Kars 4 Kids is just a front for years, but seeing it in the wild it’s so deceptive.

    12. I didn’t rigorously fact check it but the YouTuber Moss Planet has a couple of videos going in depth on this group and the kars4kids campaign

    13. They’ve entered Canada now. So annoying to see the ads.

Any Canadian should use Kidney Car if they want to donate a car. Real charity

Holy shit, I’ve been hearing those ads on the radio for decades and never would have guessed that they funded free trips to Israel for middle class Jewish teenagers in New York.

As an American it feels like no matter what I do I’m still somehow inadvertently funding Israel’s Palestinian genocide.
