Interesting given Punisher was a vigilante, bypassing all these groups to get justice.

Co-creator Gerry Conway: “The vigilante anti-hero is fundamentally a critique of the justice system, an example of social failure, so when cops put Punisher skulls on their cars or members of the military wear Punisher skull patches, they’re basically [siding] with an enemy of the system. They are embracing an outlaw mentality. Whether you think the Punisher is justified or not, whether you admire his code of ethics, he is an outlaw. He is a criminal. Police should not be embracing a criminal as their symbol.”

The Punisher has been coopted by the right wing for a while. Do you know many pick up trucks I see with MAGA and Punisher stickers on them?

I cannot fathom actually playing the character and misunderstanding the point of him so badly.

Lmao, what a dumbass. missing the point this hard is on brand with him, though.

Its like the perfectly casted person and then he just misses the entire fucking point.

So many actors play enough “tough guys” and start to genuinely think they’re cops.

It’s funny bc I’ve always irrationally hated him for his role in the walking dead and how his character story in the show was not true to the comic LOL. But now I feel validated for always disliking him.

It’s one thing to disagree with the ethos of the character you play. It’s another thing to redefine the character to be the opposite of what it is
