So are they just going to keep pushing back the next film so they don’t have to end the film series lol

People are going to clown but this could work if they stick to the roots of the first two movies. It was basically Point Break but with cars. If they made a show based off of that with some early season Animal Kingdom vibes thrown in I would definitely watch.

    4. Key piece Deadline left out of headline:

      >“Peacock is launching four shows in the Fast and the Furious universe,” he (Vin Diesel) said.

Peacock will allow freedom because FCC will sanitize it and ruin it.

Paramount ruined Marshall’s by stripping the grit from Yellowstone and making a bargain bin CSI. The grit ain’t there and it’s just another FCC friendly garbage. The people who made it number one disappoint me and are fake fans. Those guys didn’t value the gritty and TV-MA magic the OG had.

    6. There was a show on Fox called Fastlane which was basically a Fast and the Furious show.

Tired of everything needing a TV show. This especially does not work as a TV show. Imagine the F&F movies with shitty tv style drama and padding. No stunts, no effects outside of the first and last episodes, just 8 hours of mundane bullshit.

      Why would *anyone* want this?

If they want to make it grounded, then sure I’ll watch. If theyre going to make it about Temu Avengers, they can fuck off

Do they really think these things are going to get people to subscribe to Peacock?

The movies are fun, even the bad ones. A TV show could be fun but they should really finish the movies out first.

So are they going to be stealing DVD players or driving cars to space?

    12. The movies’ crew went from stealing DVD players in the first one to working for an international secret agency and taking a car to space. Hope the TV shows escalate even faster.

4 separate shows seems a little excessive. I wonder if Vin’s people were pitching him different ideas and he decided to do them all. “Four is a good number for family.”

One should just focus on the cleanup crew for all the hijinks the crew got into. Dragging that safe all through Rio caused a lot of damage.

    13. If it’s on Peacock why stop there? Do a crossover with Twisted Metal and link the universes. The Fast And The Furious can act as a prequel to that series. If they went to space in the movies they can surely fight the devil and have supernatural races on TV /s

    14. I think it’s nice that we have these movies.
We make movies exclusively for kids. Why not make movies exclusively for unbelievably thick people?

    15. If they make it grounded like the first couple of movies then this becomes a must watch

    16. The movies at this point thrive on spectacle and a huge cast that has made them prohibitably expensive – no way they can come remotely close to that on TV.

I’d assume for TV they’re back to the vibe of the original which is street level crime with fast cars, basically extended car product placements inside the “Fast and Furious” world where street racing culture is important and ubiquitous – could work for some people for me that’s the most boring part. I like the pointlessly complicated over-the-top action sequences that laugh in the face of physics, it’s just good dumb fun. Also some genuinely excellent fight scenes in this franchise, even as of Fast X Michelle Rodriguez versus Charlize Theron was an all-timer.

The street racing sequences where you watch an actor pretend to drive and trade somehow-audible quips with the other cars is really not anything for me.

With the movie audiences ticking back up I hope they can finally get their shit together to make a proper finale movie, it’s so weird that this massive franchise ends on a cliffhanger where most of them appear to be dead.

This seemed inevitable. Peacock needs content and getting a bunch of younger actors and making a show that’s actually about street racing with the Fast and Furious label on it will get people to watch.

    18. I want a return to the core of the franchise – VCR/TV combo units heists.

If there’s any artist to do the theme song it should be Monicaaaaaaa

People always say that they miss when F&F was about the street racing and the cars. I can’t think of a better option for a show in the franchise than to do just that. Make it about the racing rather than massive stunts and set pieces, would be a smaller budget that way too.

    21. Nice. Time to call up that white dude that went to Japan and fire up some side stories. Not Bow Wow though, he’s lame af.

Im so in. The movies have gotten progressively worse and cheesier but im in for the full ride. Give me it.

    23. This makes me happy. It’s a simple and satisfying watch. I always said, the movies are like a little boys imagination with his toy cars and action figures transformed into real life.
