Kind of random, don’t you think?

What did you pick that scene for?

      Are you a spam bot?

This is like a checklist of ways Wes Anderson likes to have a character come into frame. Hops up from the bottom. Struts in from the side. Drifts in a little too suddenly with a camera shift. It’s all so specifically him.

Or the way you can see every rough spot in the track the camera is on, in the unsteady way it moves. I bet if the rig was smoother, he’d have asked someone to loosen the rail joins a bit.

I’ll often hear people say of great directors “no one else could have shot a scene like this”, but that’s not Wes. Anyone could have shot a scene like this. No one else would have. You can kinda either love it or hate it, but he won’t care either way.

I know this is r/movies so showing movies is kinda the point, but people posting 90 second clips of movies with no sort of discussion about it are just farming engagement and I’m kinda tired of seeing it

Like mods please, could do literally anything about this? A simple “video clips can’t be posted without commentary” rule would do wonders for the quality of content being posted here. Posts like this exist purely on the merits of the movie itself. OPs posting stuff like this is just them coasting on other peoples’ work and it’s kinda shitty to let them do it.

“My daughter has been abducted by one of those beige lunatics “ is one of my favourite lines from any movie

Wes Anderson made a career out of doing shots that break the rules of cinematography. The quirks become the feature of this films.

Inconsistent quirkiness is a mistake. Consistent quirkiness is art.
