I’m kinda looking forward to this (Leto aside) but I just hope it doesn’t spend too much of its time lampshading everything. Yes, this entire IP started as a toy line before it was anything else. But far too many movies these days have become self conscious of being a part of their own genre

It’s what plagued Marvel the past few years, like they’re embarrassed of their comic book roots and have to joke about it. Any adaptation that afraid of or thinks itself better than its source material
is going to talk down to its audience

    2. This wasn’t in my watchlist at all, but compelled to check it out for Daniel Pemberton’s music.

The guy did two films back to back which couldn’t be more different in terms of genre, tone and use of score, that came out within two weeks of each other (Project Hail Mary & The Drama; the former had pretty much had it going for almost the entire runtime yet didn’t feel too intrusive, while the latter clocked in for only around 20 minutes out of 106), which has really gotten me excited for what he’ll bring here.
