Maybe this is a dissenting opinion, but I think this movie manages to be both shocking (I guess?) and boring at the same time. I don’t think time has treated it kindly.

Thought this was Benicio Del Toro and Hunter Schafer for a second.

Oh my god oh my god oh my god! In theaters October!?!? This had to be De Luca (current CEO of WB Pictures and once upon a time the screenwriter of In the Mouth of Madness). Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck this is so cool I’m gonna go do a little dance

    4. I’ve never even heard of this movie, but I do know the director’s other movies (Tommy, Altered States). Is this also the kind of movie to watch on substances or nah?

Why can’t new movies have posters this gorgeous? I’m assuming it’s the actors agents jocking for headspace

I saw the uncut version back in October, during my Halloween marathon. Absolutely batshit in the best possible way. It’s a must see film.

Oliver Reed gives such a commanding performance and Ken Russell had massive balls to go against the church like he did back then.

To top it all off, the story actually happened. It’s fucking mental.

I know Kermode has been championing the film and kept asking WB to release it on bluray, but they kept saying no, so this is surprising to see.

    7. This is so exciting! I only first heard of and saw this movie just five years ago, and I became so fascinated with it and its history. I have the Region 2 BFI DVD that is less censored, but if this restored version includes the rest of the cut material and gets a Blu-ray release it’s a Day One purchase for me.

One of my all time favorite movies, I hope the rerelease is the uncut version. It’s a great satire of religious hysteria

An HD, uncensored version of this film has been my white whale for the longest time as a media collector and fan of extreme film. I of course own the BFI DVD, but 480p is an outright disservice to this gorgeous film.

I consider this a more palatable Salo. Still quite extreme, but I feel it delivers it’s message better than the adaptation of a Marquis de Sade book where the messaging was added by Passolini in his adaptation and not inherent to the work.

It really is a shame it took so long for this to finally happen but I’m really glad it did. The biggest slap in the face by Warner was the inclusion of the nuns from this film as background characters in the new Space Jam while they were still actively burying it.

Surprisingly makes for a good double feature with Disney’s Hunchback of Notre Dame, and the character who you think might have string parallels with Frollo is not Oliver Reed’s Grandier, oddly enough
