He pretty much was off the grid when he got diagnosed with dementia. I believe one of the last sighting of him was when he did a CBS Sunday Morning piece about 7-8 years ago. Even back then you could tell that he was beginning to fade and he wasn’t all there.
The Dark Side of the Ring producers wanted to have him on for their WCW Miniseries but they went with his son. The last report of him was like a year ago that he had a private birthday party.
RIP. Cable News as it is today with CNN wouldn’t be the same without him, and as a pro wrestling fan, I have a lot of respect for his role in pushing WCW into national prominence in the 80s/90s
