Last we heard (Oct 2024), the sequel to Kingdom was confirmed and aiming at a 2027 release date
However, as far as I know theres been no further development, no director attached, not even a confirmed name. Do we still think this will make 2027? The previous trilogy all released 3 years apart (2011,2014,2017) and Kingdom came out in 2024, so 2027 would've made sense, but I feel like this is going to be very delayed

if it does come out next year, it’ll be a rush job like Jurassic World Rebirth and the director would likely be a gun for hire
Most probably delayed like Alien: Romulus sequel
If I was them, I would be concerned at the box office drop of the films.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) grossed $710 million worldwide.
War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) grossed $490 million worldwide.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024) grossed $397 million worldwide.
That’s a pretty big decline with each film. At that pace the next film would make in the 200’s. Since these films cost around $150 million to make before you even factor in marketing cost it’s concerning enough to pause and think things over. Their next move could cost them millions if they aren’t careful.
I wonder if they’re planning on bringing Wes Ball back for this one and they’re just trying to work around his schedule. I think the Zelda movie just wrapped filming so there’s an outside shot he’d be able to start production on a new Apes movie late this year and maybe they can squeeze it out for a holiday 2027 release. That seems pretty ambitious though.
That’s a great idea. I’m surprised no one has ever thought of making a sequel to an existing franchise before.
Yeah they would need to be deep into pr production by now especially with all of the cgi.
>Is the next Planet of the Apes still releasing in 2027?

Yes, in a manner of speaking.
Probably not given that Wes Ball went to make Zelda instead of a sequel. I’m sure that we’ll get another one, it’s just a matter of time. That franchise still has a lot of value.
Probably within the next couple of years
