Taylor Swift to NYT calls sombr “intensely confessional” despite surface level lyrics: “I don’t want another man’s child to have the eyes of the girl I can’t forget! Are you kidding me? Having a male artist say stuff like that is really good for the cause of women to be able to say stuff.”

the cause of women to be able to say stuff? 😭 oh she’s saying stuff alright

As a lifelong fan of hers, it’s just been so disappointing to see the way she’s gone since starting to date Travis. 2014 Taylor would go in a Twitter rant about how sexist this is if a critic said this about a male artists and even mentioned her name in the same article.

Everytime she speaks it’s like she’s trying to fill a word count on an essay

I think she’s trying to say that men singing about these types of feelings is nice because when girls do it, they get shit on? Idk, I’m not Taylor Swift.

I mean, it was ruined with TLOASG for me, but I literally cannot defend her lyricism anymore when she makes statements like this.

  6. because having teenage girls bark for you at your shows is really inspiring for women

  8. she also praised ice spice and sabrina carpenters song writing so this statement isn’t really surprising. i wonder if she actually genuinely listens to the music is new mainstream artist she praises or if this is something to say to sound “cool” for the kids

So what’s the deal, where is her money invested in the Sombr project? Is it the same management or PR firm or is she quietly running a label behind the scenes?

You think I’m being sarcastic. I am not.

Is this a safe space to ask if she mentioned a single woman during this interview? Seeing lots of clips about her praising male artists.

I had always suspected her of having a room temperature IQ and if this isn’t proof then nothing is.

EDIT: It just dawned on me that she’s essentially saying a man has to say something in order for a woman to have permission to say it. Isn’t she supposed to be a feminist? This is wild

  12. It’s like “game recognize game”, but with psychos who have really unhealthy ideas of how to treat romantic partners and relationships.

Like seriously she’s admiring specifically “I don’t want another man’s child to have the eyes of the girl I can’t forget” which sounds like something you’d find in an incel manifesto.

And then she’s like “That’s good *for the cause of women*.” I can’t.

  13. I will never understand how she became such a cultural cornerstone. She is unrelatable, tone deaf, and her music is mid as hell.

she’s so inarticulate I’m tired of the world acting like she’s a master with words when all she did different in her songwriting was discover a thesaurus and date an educated British man for 6 years

Aside from the stupid phrasing, how is “I don’t want another man to have kids with the woman I want” good for the cause of women in any way. PLEASE break that one down for me Ms. Swift
