That will be interesting to watch but I’m nervous to see how they RF members will react to them along with Queen Elizabeth’s 2nd Uncle abdicating in 1936.

  2. “We want people to think the years before Queen Elizabeth weren’t that bad either!”

  3. The earlier seasons of The Crown were by far the best, so I’m cautiously optimistic.

  4. Maybe there’s a market for this? But at least with The Crown, QE2 was still alive when it aired its first seasons. Also the coronation of Elizabeth really felt like a turning point for the monarchy in a way the earlier monarchs post Victoria hadn’t (perhaps they were effective in their time but in modern memory, few know much of anything about them. I mean outside of amateur historians who among the general audience really would connect with any of them.

  5. This is a more interesting period of history the more political episodes of the crown were some of the best. Edward VII’s arc of being a real playboy and taking up the throne would be good.

  6. “You could not live with your own failure. Where did that bring you? Back to me.”

  7. Actually I think a large budget series about the Victorian Age (which has been done on a smaller scale, yes I know) might be something. Drama during the Industrial Revolution and British Empire was just about as transformational as the post WW2 era. But Netflix probably couldn’t manage it.

  8. Absolutely amazing. The Crown stands to be one of the most well produced television shows in history. If Netflix puts the same amount of money into this I see it doing very well.

They’re also working on a similar show but for the Kennedy family.

This is soooo good for people that are into dramatizations of history.

  9. Why is this show as expensive as GOT?

Even though there wasn’t as dramatic events, I still feel like doing Victoria’s lifetime was the natural sequel

I’m very interested in this, I’m glad they’re going into the past instead of doing the Harry and Meghan story (though it’s only a matter of time before they do)

Peter Morgan will die before he writes something not based on a major British public figure

  12. Well I guess Hister will have to make his appearance. Let’s see how they handle that one.

  13. A sequel to the most recent series is gonna be juicy but could probably stand to stew for any year or two

Gosh I wish they could do the Plantagenets dynasty begging from 1154 to 1485. It has everything rebellions, dynastic battles, over ambitious lords, murder.
