    1. It does feel like there’s not much buzz to this season and that it’s been overshadowed by “Invincible” and “The Boys.”

Shame. The storytelling this season is really great. Entertaining week after week

Combination of people not caring about the MCU anymore and also it being sandwiched in between two other great adult oriented superhero shows right now Invincible & The Boys

Usually when stories like these come out, people rush to their little “biased pet explanation” to explain this. “There isn’t enough Matt”, “There is too much Kingpin”, “It’s too woke”, “It’s not woke enough”, “They actually ruined the story”, “They haven’t added enough Defenders”, “Bullseye isn’t like the comics so people aren’t watching”, “They retroactively ruined the Netflix series”

But honestly there could be a lot of actual normal valid reason. Born Again season 2 is much much better than season 1. And if it sticks the landing well, it hit might hit just as well for me as OG Netflix Era Daredevil. (not season 3 of the Netflix Era, I worship that season too much). But beyond the series itself there are possible reasons for this drop.

For 1, Disney+ has increased it’s price 2 times and depending on your region some of these prices are ridiculous. Especially in this economy with gas prices and tariff wars.

Second note would be that this show unfortunately is airing at the same time as 2 shows that massively overshadow. We had Invincible and The Boys.

And 3rd, Disney+ as a platform isn’t as appealing as it’s competitors. I have a couple of shows I watch on Disney+. But with Amazon Prime Video you also have Amazon Prime. Netflix is the main leader so they have their market share. Disney+ might include FX, Hulu, etc in some regions but regardless it isn’t a leader in the streaming sphere.

I won’t even mention people that like to binge these shows as I can’t measure that but that possibly plays some role as well. Honestly they should have put Daredevil in the next Spiderman movie instead of Punisher to really push the Daredevil brand more to a wider audience but too bad I guess.

That figures, cuz everything I even kinda enjoy seems to do poor box office (or ratings, who cares).

Some people are just waiting for the entire season to drop before they start watching.

    7. Hopefully they expected a dip after frankensteining s1 and leaving a mediocre first impression. I’m not TOO worried. I think the prospect of S3 bringing back a lot of fan favorites will give it a big boost. S2 is also too good to not find an audience eventually, and it seems it will stick around long enough for that to happen.

    8. I think people overestimate how much the people outside the Marvel bubble care about Daredevil. Netflix Daredevil never had huge viewerships anyway. And Disney returning to Daredevil was more a coincidence than actually planned.

That beeing said, Season 1 of Born Again wouldnt keep the people entertaining that had their first Daredevil Content because it was more a “just fine” than “oh wow thats what people online talk about”

I love Season 2. Its such a step up in quality compared to Season 1. Still not on the level of Netflix Season 3 but more than enough to keep me entertaint

    9. It’s definitely better than season 2 imo also. But I think The Boys and Invincible are taking the spotlight for a lot of people at the moment.

Meanwhile I’m loving all 3 PLUS Maul: Shadow Lord.

      Eating so good

Season 1 burned a lot of bridges with more casual, less chronically online viewers. Compared to what came in the 2010s it was a mess.

Season 2 is much better and i’m glad they got full control and tone going, but it’s too late for many casual viewers who are unaware of what the show went through behind the scenes, and there is so much to watch this season that this show is not front and center for many.

    11. Disney has really milked everything out of Marvel and nothing feels like a must watch anymore. Everything from Marvel feels like “I will get around to it when I have time”.

    12. Miles better than the first season. I actually kinda hated the first season but I’m glad they turned it around.

    13. I’m waiting to binge it. The first ep didn’t hook me and I don’t have a lot of time for TV right now. Love Daredevil and love the weekly model…just bad timing for me. Can’t wait to get a day to binge it all.

There is no money for streaming services releasing things week by week. You wait till a couple of things you want to watch are done airing and then you pick it up for a month.

They need to stop using short term viewing figures for judging shows. I haven’t watched season 2, but it’s entirely the reason I have an active disney subscription. It’s something I am going to watch, but I haven’t got to it yet.

    16. Because people like me don’t have dedicated time each week to watch solos so we prefer to watch in larger chunks.

    17. Really liked the Netflix series but have yet to continue over on Disney. All the news of changes to the show while prepping the first new season didn’t bode well, nor did audience response when it finally got here. And also a mood thing. Not currently interested in watching the street-level violence that is part of the Daredevil brand (and especially the Punisher).

    18. I am enjoying the second season better than the first. But they really should have had Foggy as a main character. He adds so much to the show and he is fun to watch.

    19. I’m waiting on the season to finish. I guess I’m part of the problem.

I just don’t do weekly releases with shows I’m interested in anymore.

    20. NotANokiaInDisguise on

I didn’t even know it was currently on air. I’ll check it out once all the episodes are released

I thought last season ending “to be continued” was a disappointment. There wasn’t enough story there to justify the pace.

    22. pirate135246 on

The last episode was one of the best in the series, just ignore the cheesy Jessica Jones scenes

    23. Killing off Foggy and essentially removing Karen in s1 by replacing them with people we dont care about was a terrible decision. Also, I love kingpin but my god DD has other villains to focus on. The Kingpin story is just exhausted and forced at this point

    24. I honestly didn’t know the new season began until last week. Not sure if it’s poor marketing or I just wasn’t in the right places to see.

    25. Early_Machine_6668 on

I watched season 1 and some season 2 episodes , but I’m not finding it that engaging. The original seasons were superior in my opinion.

    26. Oh. Well that’s b/c it’s not good. 🤷‍♂️

I dropped it two weeks ago finally. People glazed S1 way too hard as well. The best ep of that season was the one that wasn’t even connected to the main plot (bank heist).

    27. For things like, big ips, many of them are top heavy.

People watch episode 1. Find it’s not for them, stop watching.
