It’s not though. It’s extremely lite fare but it’s thoroughly watchable enough to connect moments of Jackson’s life to cover each song and I’m sorry he was like the greatest recording artist who ever lived so yeah people are showing up for it.

  2. lol the reviews of this movie are all fucking rage bait one way or another. Its a mediocre movie, if you’re a fan of MJ you’ll enjoy it but don’t’ expect it to be anything amazing.

  3. I heard on the radio “if you like having keys jingled in front of you for entertainment, then the Michael Jackson movie is for you.”

  4. As a biopic it’s not great, but good lord is Jafaar Jackson good. I swear there were times I felt I was watching Michael Jackson. I can’t believe this is his first acting job ever. The music performances are incredible.

  5. It’s not great but it’s ridiculous to call it unwatchable. If you’re talking a recent release that’s actually unwatchable that’s Balls Up.

All-timer of a performance by Ryan Hailey though, for what it’s worth. He does all he can to elevate it with the little time he’s afforded.

It’s an okay movie, it’s not unwatchable

Critics thinking his fans will hate this are a bit out of touch. The hype and love for this movie is huge. Reddit would have you think otherwise but people who barely go to the cinema, are going to watch this film. It seems like the vast majority of people loved it. A lot of criticism I’ve seen on Reddit is that it’s sanitised because it doesn’t include the allegations he faced during his career

But people here don’t seem to realise most of his fans, and he has millions of fans around the world, aren’t interested in a year by year accurate biopic.
They wanna see a movie about his songs, dancing and overall talent. That’s it

  8. Reddit and critics are really hating on this movie 😂 The fact of the matter is a shit ton of people around the world are fans of his music and this movie caters to that…

It will do bucket loads of cash around the world and probably have a sequel. Plus the audience scores seem to indicate the critics and Reddit are in a very small minority…

I enjoyed it personal, deep as a puddle but his music is still some of the best around…

  9. this woman that lives in my apartment building said she saw it and loved it but then again she’s weird, she took her moms ashes with her to see it. I really don’t understand people sometimes

  10. I saw it twice, once with wife and once with in-laws. Both times enjoyable with good music and dancing. Is it a ground breaking, awe inspiring piece of cinema that will discussed for generations? No, but not every movie needs to be. Watch, turn off brain, listen to a few He-He’s , go home.

  12. I spoke to somebody today who went to see it with her family and said they all loved it. Granted, they aren’t reddit cinema incels but they are real people…

  13. How’s the atmos audio? if it sounds good, then might be worth it to just enjoying the musics
