Do you consider Die Hard to be a Christmas film!
Also what is your new film about?
Edit: My dad loved Cliffhanger, and it was a banger!
John Lithgow played an incredible villain in “Cliffhanger”. How did he end up getting selected for the role? Any interesting stories about working with him on location?
I used to love The Long Kiss Goodnight, but it’s probably been a good 10-12 years since I watched it last. Have you rewatched it, and if so, how does it hold up?
What happened to comedy movies over the years?
What was it like when you first pitched the part in Deep Blue Sea where the shark eats Samuel L. Jackson? What did Sam say when he was first told of it?
See this is the level of fame I would like. Do a bunch of sweet well known projects, but can prolly still walk around.
Which film was the most technically challenging to make for it’s era? Does DEEP WATER still rely on some practical effects in addition to CGI?
Hi Renny! ‘Deep Blue Sea’ is a cult classic for its practical effects and that iconic shark scene. With ‘Deep Water’ also being a shark-themed thriller, how has your approach to building tension and using sharks as antagonists evolved with modern technology compared to the 90s?”
Film you’re personally most proud of that you wish got more attention.
Hi Renny, I was curious as to what it was like to have Robert Englund in that nurse costume for A Nightmare on Elm Street 4?
In Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, why does the dog piss fire? And was that idea your own or the writers’? And if it was their idea, did you try to propose a less silly way of resurrecting Freddy?
favourite scene to direct on elm street 4? ( my favourite elm street film admittedly)
How was your experience directing Die Hard 2?
Cutthroat Island is horribly underrated. Came to say it to you personally. If you hear from Geena Davis or Matthew Modine tell them I said so. Loved it. Saw it 100 times as a kid, while my parents were divorcing, it kept me company on VHS. I’m 37 now, and Disney never did for me like you did. Would have easily eaten up a sequel. Appreciate you.
What actor have you always wanted to direct but haven’t had the chance to?
I LOVED THE LONG KISS GOOD NIGHT!!
Which film did you enjoy making the most and why?
Best and worst lead actor with whom you worked?
Thank you for the many movie memories over the years!
Hey Renny….what’s your Favourite song? and Favourite Movie?
Did you enjoy shooting *The Legend of Hercules* in 3D, or did you find the process of native stereoscopic production to be a chore or frustrating? I appreciated that you made some fun use of the format with all the arrows and spears and snowflakes and such!
Loved Cutthroat Island! What is your favorite memory of directing that movie?
It is such a fun pirate movie and I thought you did a wonderful job! Still enjoy watching it.
How did your experience filming Deep Water differ from Deep Blue Sea?
In Deep Blue Sea, did you tell Thomas Jane to dive for the staircase when the room was flooding or did he just like think that made sense? Cause I love that movie but I will forever point it out to anyone I talk into watching with me.
You’re an incredible director, thank you for your amazing filmography! Quick question – will we ever get a sequel to The Long Kiss Goodnight? It would be fun to see what crazy adventures Sam & Mitch have been up to since saving Niagara Falls. Did Caitlin follow in mom’s footsteps?
Hi Renny, what was one of the most challenging sequences in any of your movies that you felt you had to do?
Which ending of Deep Blue Sea do you prefer? The released cut or the original?
Nightmare 4 is my favorite in the series! Do you have any memorabilia from working on that movie?
Hello Renny, at what moment in your career did you knowingly choose a path that most people around you thought was a mistake, and what did that decision teach you about trusting your instincts versus the industry?
What’s your favorite movie you’ve ever directed, and why?
Die Hard 2 is super underrated. I actually enjoyed it more than the original (here come the downvotes). Also I really like Ford Fairlane. That’s all, no questions.
Hi Renny.
What was your route into the business? Do you think it’s still possible to break in as a director? A writer?
