Why do so many celebrities pull a right wing grift once they start falling off?

It’s a quick money and attention boost and gets you in the pipeline for right-wing funded projects. Whether the boost lasts varies, of course.

It’s an easy attention grab with a built in audience and support. It’s certainly a smaller crowd than mainstream success but it’s enough to keep the money flowing.

MAGA pretends to hate pop culture and celebrites and then dick rides any Z-lister that wants to be on their side. Insanely embarrassing behavior lmao

Honestly, couple of reasons, could be grift, or they see the career sliding so they figure pivot, stop hiding who they are and move toward the Christian based films.

There’s a lot of rich assholes who will fund conservative causes.

See: JD Vance and Peter Thiel

  6. Because they think appealing to the lowest common denominator will save their career and because they have no morals. Or, maybe they always were right-wing and pretended to be liberal

David Henry is very condescending. The way he talked about the dude who played his friend on Wizards of Waverly Place. He used to be the Hollywood actor equivalent of a frat boy who had his own posse and would regularly beat up people he did not like.

  8. keeps them in the news, money, community (even if it’s with right wing bigots).

It works. The right are years behind the general public on trends, jokes, popular culture. They will support someone who is socially an issue if they are told it will upset their enemies. It is an easy grift and you don’t need talent or existing popularity. I don’t know who this guy is but when his publicist makes him a right wing figure I will.

I remember years ago Dean Cain was in our office and no one told me. Other people got to meet him. I asked my manager why he didn’t tell me and he said “because you would pick a fight and tell him you know more about Superman and he isn’t a good one.” He is right. That was a decade ago. He was on one series of a TV show few people watched and a rightward turn made him a celebrity again.

    Validation.

We all feel its pull in one capacity or another. Now imagine being someone whose brain has been wired to receive constant love, attention, and adoration only to be reminded that you are just one soul among billions once your spot in the limelight is cut short. Well, you gotta re-up your dopamine subscription and grifting the easily grifted just happens to be the easiest way to attain that high from validation.

I say this ALL the time. It’s because they know how easy it is to become relevant again by pandering to such a hateful side of people , and trying to piss off the others.

The list of Celebs who have done this ALL fit the bill INSANELY.

  13. Money. Enablement. Affirmation.

“Christians” are real good at acceptance if it gives them the ability to name drop. Mutually beneficial toxicity.

  14. Because there are, in actuality, so few. Look at the TPUSA halftime show or inauguration. You have a great chance of reviving your career with these losers because there’s not many of them (loudly) on the right associating with these people. The right latches onto whoever they can get because they’re “like them” whether or not they have talent or are relevant.

Disney kids are pretty broadly evangelical behind the scenes, something I discovered doing some acting work as a teen. The Jonas Bros were probably some of the most vocal, but it was a social expectation for a lot of those kids. Then, when they fall out of the spotlight, they blame “godless Hollywood.”
