  1. Man I like listening to Keith David’s awesome voice. Check out “The Lowdown” if you haven’t seen it

    Oh you got kids, Maniac?

  2. Could this be the greatest fight in cinema history? Or the greatest fight in history?

  3. I remember a story about executives wanting him to shorten the fight and Carpenter fought to keep it this long. He stated something along the lines of this is how hard it is to change someone’s mind.

Everyone should watch this, the South Park version, and then the side by side of They Live/South Park

One of the things I genuinely love about this scene is the dirt and grime that gets all over their clothes as the scene progresses. They start off clean and each knock to the ground gets more and more dirt on their pants and shirts. Like they didn’t film it on a film set, they just went to some real life dirty alley and said “Alright this looks good, let’s try to get this in one take, okay?”

I was talking to my wife recently about how this scene is kind of like where America is right now as a society and how it perfectly encapsulates how near-impossible it is to get someone to change their mind.

Amazing fight scene, but don’t overlook that 20ft toss of the cash by Keith David at the start.

  8. I got to party in Rowdy’s house once. Great time. Somewhere there is a photo of me taking a shit in the master bathroom.

They Live is a GREAT flick with really deep meaning and critical world view theory. I would recommend it to anyone who likes to think through a film.
