Charlize Theron Says ‘In 10 Years, AI Is Going to Be Able to Do’ Timothée Chalamet’s Job, but it ‘Will Not Be Able to Replace’ Live Performance Like Ballet
> When Theron was asked about the major mental challenges of her past roles, the action star said, “Dance is probably one of the hardest things I ever did. Dancers are superheroes. What they put their bodies through in complete silence.”
> Interviewer Lulu Garcia-Navarro then alluded to Chalamet’s now infamous “ballet or opera” statement, to which Theron replied, “Oh, boy, I hope I run into him one day. That was a very reckless comment on an art form, two art forms, that we need to lift up constantly because, yes, they do have a hard time. But in 10 years, AI is going to be able to do Timothée’s job, but it will not be able to replace a person on a stage dancing live.”
> She continued, “And we shouldn’t [expletive] on other art forms. Dance taught me discipline. It taught structure. It taught hard work. It taught me to be tough. It’s borderline abusive. There were several times that I had blood infections from blisters that just never healed. And you don’t get a day off. I’m literally talking about bleeding through your shoes. And that’s something that you have to practice every single day, the mind-set of just, you don’t give up, there’s no other option, you keep going.”

Could Hollywood actors please get off this ballet bullshit? It was a smear campaign designed to cost Chalamet the Oscar. It worked. Please move on.

They’re already experimenting with robot stunt… Err… People…, I imagine robot ballerinas are closer than she thinks

Absolutely guarantee robot ballet will be a thing.

The real question is will the customer pay $20 to see a film entirely generated by AI with no human actors made for a small fraction of the cost of a normal film? Or to phrase it another way how stupid do they think we are?

Are we still milking this story? He was trying to say he didnt want Cinema to become a dead or pretentious artwork, which Ballet absolutely is.

Well no one is gonna do AI ballet since there’s barely any market for ballet these days

There appears to be a great push towards normalizing AI slop. It’s like too many people massively invested in it and are getting desperate to see some profitability. How strange

Ballet is a dying art.
This virtue signaling shit over ballet and opera has been wild to see.

I mean she’s not wrong. Video games in general are having digitally created characters with voice actors put out high level performances.

I feel like ai can replace live performance like ballet also. With the way that ai is advancing over the years and even months, ai can pretty much take over the entertainment industry and other industries and nobody can do a thing about it

Doesn’t that mean it will also do Charlize Theron’s job as well since she is also an actress? What a dumb statement.

Not even picking sides with the Timmy ballet thing but she is just hilariously wrong. We are far closer to a lifeless machine being able to physically mimic human movement if not out perform it in 10 years especially on specialized task. But to get all the nuances of acting and all the emotional control and complex narratives and voice infections and soo on. If Charlize was trying to defend ballet as some holy art form she is doing a good job of accidently showing it may be one of the easiest art forms to produce non organically… Which I feel could add even more fuel to this wierd fire.

Are we still on this little comment Chalamet made? Who gives a shit. Yeah Ballerinas will still be able to do it ten years from now and very few people will still go and see it. People were just waiting to turn on someone whose incredibly talented and successful; America loves seeing someone whose had it a little too good get knocked down a peg for minute

Nobody was talking about ballet until Tim said something so all these ballet fan celebrities should be thanking him, again it’s more people upset with Tim over his comments than the actors who are Woody Allen apologists
