Jamie Dornan hosting SNL UK and joining Lord of the Rings – he’s come quite aways from being the Huntsman in Once Upon a Time

  3. Not bad! He’s exactly the same age Viggo was when he did “The Fellowship of the Ring”. Way better than the rumoured Leo Woodall casting

  4. This genuinely has to be elder abuse of Ian McKellen.

Hopes for this are already at rock bottom, so they can only impress me from here.

  5. I know the story will be whatever but if they nail the pre-production back to LOTR levels instead of the CGI crap fest of the Hobbits then I’ll gladly watch people walking and fighting around New Zealand with a Howard Shore soundtrack.

  6. From the director of Mowgli, Breathe, Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Animal Farm.

Hopefully fifth times the charm for Andy Serkis as a director.

    Lee Pace lfgooo

Very good casting! I hope they can make something interesting out of this premise though

I guess I just don’t understand how this movie will have any narrative tension at all

  9. I’m still traumatised from the lord of the rings gollum video game. Don’t do this to me man

I love Lord of the Rings, the book and the Peter Jackson films. I love Andy Serkis(the actor and VFX pioneer more so than Serkis the director).

This movie is utterly pointless. The only reason it’s being made is to make money.

I would far prefer to see adaptations of the stories in the Silmarilion. But the Tolkien estate will never let that happen and casual audiences only care about Hobbit and LOTR.

Ian being back is hype, the story they picked really makes me wonder though. How do you see what happened to the game and make this your first choice?

This is going to be shit. It should have been put to rest after Return of the King. Hollywood just can’t resist milking the fuck out of everything.

  13. Last thing I want from this franchise is more Gollum, like the absolute last thing.

why would this preceed movies, AND theyre all older, AND ur replacing actors. wtf is this shit? be original

I’m excited for the awful Gollum game to have an awful Gollum movie as a friend.

  16. This must be a studio rights-retention movie and I can’t be convinced otherwise. Because there isn’t enough story here to warrant a theatrical adaptation.

  17. Is Howard Shore coming back?

This just seems so desperate & silly to me. These films can only dilute the greatness of LOTR.

What’s the climax of the story? In LOTR there’s a war to end all wars. In hobbit there’s a war to end all wars.

This has a recast Aargorn and a very old Ian Mckellen as Gandalf chasing Gollum directed by a guy who has never made even a decent film.

Pretty much all the action will be invented. And the problem the Hobbit had was that all the beauty from LOTR of New Zealand as middle earth now looks fake because of the way digital cameras and cgi are being utilized.

Ugh.. this seems so pointless. The best stuff from Hobbit was the stuff from the books. All the added stuff felt like another movie.
