Just came across the Hokum trailer
it feels like it’s going for a slower, more atmospheric kind of horror
not much happens in the trailer itself, but the setting and overall tone stood out
I don’t mind trailers that are this minimal, but I’m curious if it’ll translate well over a full runtime
what do you guys think ?

Mr. Scott is not the first name I would attach to a horror movie, but sometimes that’s exactly what a comedian brings to the table. A subversion of your expectations. You expect a certain lightheartedness, a lightening of the tension because that is what you see when you see a face you are accustomed to seeing in a comedy. Lighter fare.
But then the light dims, the gloom spreads and to see that face, that usually makes you smile, disappear under layers of darkness, that makes the contrast all the more delicious.
I look forward to this movie and hope it continues the slow, atmospheric buildup of the trailer. I do enjoy a bit of world building and characterization before the screaming starts in earnest.
