THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2 came on tracking today at $66 million opening, per NRG. First THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA opened to $27.5 million in 2006, or $44 million in today’s dollars. MICHAEL is also surging, now up to $61 million opening, per NRG.

They may not be $100M + openers but I think both will open well
The numbers will keep increasing for both
I think it can do 80M-90M if the movie really delivers. Here in Germany sales have also been good.
I bet DWP2 goes higher.
I saw people saying this could open to $100M+ lol
Michael slowly going up is promising, and there’s still two weeks left. Just remember that overseas money is where it’ll really shine. Going to end off April on a strong note.
Seeing that Prada 2 will very much play like a “Girls Night Out’ event, I can see a mini Barbie happening here where opening could outgross the original’s unadjusted $124M domestic gross. But over $80M+ opening is definitely locked.
I don’t see just a 66m OW for DWP2 happening based on presales. It’s definitely going to do closer to 80-100m range. Probably 90m if I had to guess but sales are fantastic. It’d need to be extremely frontloaded for this to happen.
I think that sounds about right. Folks gotta understand that the target demo for this is not generally going to be rushing out to see it the minute it releases, this thing will have great legs and be around for a while.
Empire is way more bullish than this re: DWP2
