[Matt Belloni] News: The Writers Guild has come to a tentative deal with studios on a new 4 year contract (yes, an extra year than normal!). Health plan/pension increases, SVOD bumps, protection to police licensing for AI training, more. Still must be recommended and ratified, but huge news.

  1. It seems there won’t be another strike this year, at least from the WGA’s part.

That’s obviously good news for the workers, but also for the movies set to release in 2026 that still have work to do (looking at you, Avengers: Doomsday).

Negotiations starting months early was a clear sign nobody wanted to drag things out and risk another strike.

A 4 year deal instead of 3 is pretty huge.

4 years definitely seems reasonable to avoid another strike on the WGA side.
