For once I can say I had a hand in this as they asked me to survey it when I went on my midnight screening.

Just got out of it and yeah as someone who enjoyed the first one enough that I own it on 4k blu-ray. I was pretty underwhelmed by this. Like it tries to adapt literary every Mario platformer at once due to this being the big 40th anniversary project and it just falls apart, because that was a stupid idea to begin with.

I’m not shocked, the first at least kinda tried to have a story. It did the bare minimum but it tried. This one just doesn’t have a plot it’s complete nonsense. It never stops even for a second to have a breather. I was getting Minions and Despicable Me 4 vibes watching it

If only they had made an effort like the creatives of the Sonic movie
Who is CinemaScore actually polling? This sample they choose is so skewed to a very specific type of fan.
We really should stop taking Cinemascore so seriously.

A- for an kids movie (especially for a KIDS-kids movie like this one) is like a B+ for a typical PG-13 blockbuser

Extremely polarizing fan response (better recieved by general auds) definitely played a part, I wonder if Minions & Monsters will review significantly better?
