  1. Wish it had more colors. Even so, looks like a blast. Millie is such a great talent.

  2. Back to back movies where it’s all about saving the damn dog. And I completely understand it.

Also, you can tell Momoa is giddy at finally getting to be Lobo.

scorching take, but i think it looks good and probably will be better than any of the trailers let on. Shame it’s not as colorful or fantastical with its work designs as the book, but that’d also be a hard thing to follow and I can’t really see anything looking that good outside of an animated adaptation, which like yeah, you can forever argue that a lot of these stories are just going to visually look better in an animated medium.

Excited to see more Milly Alcock as Supergirl as I liked the glimpse we got of her at the end of Superman and really liked her as young Rhaenyra in HoTD, there’s some very clear stuff directly lifted from Woman of Tomorrow which is cool, and a lot more Lobo than expected, which is also cool.

Jason Mamoa looks like hes having way more fun as Lobo then he ever did as Aquaman

  5. The first trailer was incredibly bland visually, and there’s some slight improvement here but man it’s just not matching how beautiful the comic this is based on is.

  6. I’m curious if her power level will shift around during the film depending on her location (and what star their nearest).
Looks like it might be fun.

Still wish they leaned more fantasy aesthetics like the book but still, looks fun

I like Milly Alcock, I like Krypto, and Jason Momoa looks great as Lobo.

So I will be watching this.

I do like how they’re treating her arc as the counter to Clark. They went through the same thing of losing their planet and while he was raised to see his role as being there to help people, she wasn’t and just feels lost as a result.

But they both need to save Krypto because obviously.

  10. Krypto’s only got 3 days, huh? That’ll make it a little harder to visit all the planets from the book. Hopefully they’re still able to give kara and ruthye enough character development.

I don’t need a superhero movie about saving the world or saving the universe…. saving the dog and hurting the assholes that did it works for me.

This one might be marginally more important than Superman was. You have to get people to care about the B/C-listers if you’re building a universe.

If they kept the budget sensible I could see this one making around 300 million and be considered a win. If the writing is decent.

  13. i’m somehow even more excited for this than i was for superman. Milly was amazing in house of the dragon and the scenes we see in the trailer she looks like she’ll be just as good in this.

I’m glad they foregrounded the story and the stakes here for anyone unfamiliar with the (amazing) source material.

The Deeply Gen X-Coded needle drop is now far more aligned with Kara’s emotional state, and the clear thesis of the movie. **She’s a depressed and traumatized survivor who doesn’t have Clark’s sense of belonging, and she sees Krypto as her only real family.**

I *know* people like that, and I think making that obvious in the trailer is a great move.

I also hope revealing that 1) Krypto doesn’t *die* in the initial attack and 2) The poison from Krem of the Yellow Hills has a three-day clock doesn’t scare people off from watching the movie, out of fear that The Dog Will Die.

Ultimately, this movie will work based on how it handles the relationship between Kara and Ruthye, an the little moments that help show the latter what it *really* means to be a hero. Momoa as Lobo is a fun addition that helps expand the new DCU and will allow for big action scenes along the way, but this story needs to stick the landing with showing Kara as an equally impressive hero to Clark not in spite of her trauma and issues, but because of her ability to do the right thing regardless.

  15. Looks fun. Very GotG. Lobo looks like good value. I like Kara. Dog is dog.

    “He murdered my innocent family”

Phew. Glad they were innocent. If they were not then I guess she wouldn’t have cared.

To me, the sets and lighting look like Guardians of the Galaxy but this time DC.

  17. Lost my first dog about a year ago. It absolutely shattered me into 1 million pieces.

Something about dogs, man. Just gets to you.

I’m so glad there’s a Supergirl vs spaceship sequence! I was hoping we’d get something like that!

  19. Just realized Craig Gillespie is the director. Cruella is a guilty pleasure of mine. The trailer gives a lot of the same vibes. Larger than life female character + dog + attitude + needle drops + heavily stylized shots. Hope it’s good!

This and Spider-man has me feeling pretty optimistic about superhero movies, which is a first in a while.

I genuinely loved Superman. So, we shall see.

Fucking love Milly Alcock, she was so good in HotD. Wasn’t interested in supergirl but may check this out

  22. Woman of Tomorrow is such a great story…it’s a shame that it didn’t get Spiderverse level animated adaptation(the book is that damned colourful & good) but I don’t mind a live action introduction of the character to mainstream audience

The past 16 years have been amazing for me as a big comics fan, and with Supergirl, Clayface, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and then Avengers: Doomsday coming this year, and more on the horizon, to call me hyped would be an understatement.

Look **SO SO SO** much better than the last trailer.

The last trailer did not get me want to see this movie.
