Alas, the film itself has at least 50% chance of turning into a corporate junk. 😞😞😞😞😞

It’s good that we have fresh and stunning films that are hits like Sinners and Project Hail Mary.
Without those, this would be a completely distressing state of affairs with these soulless live action remakes that are big hits.

Trailer views don’t reflect box office, but this is a really easy billion. Or at least it will be very very near.
Though I wonder how much this will affect the franchise. Two new underwhelming entries will make a Moana 3 have a hard time compared to, idk, Zootopia 3 or Inside Out 3

It already has a good chance of being a huge success. That film has a huge audience, every time a live action comes out, with a few exceptions, nobody wants it and then it makes a billion.

I’ve been looking for a reason to share this but *WOW* is this movie hyped in my circles. All my girl coworkers are hyped for it, my ex(on good terms) is almost deliriously excited for it, said ex’s sister and her son are over the moon excited for it, my sister is thrilled for it since her kids like Moana, like it’s unreal. The level of hype among girls I know is nearly Barbie levels.
I truly expect 1.5b+. I even think this has a shot at Zootopia 2 numbers. This is hands down the most hyped movie I’ve seen this year besides BND thus far.
I also think my theory that even a shitty live action Moana would be bigger than a sequel, even if Moana 2 was great, will be found true. But hey maybe I’m wrong here. This did have an insane amount of competition.

The discourse is bringing back Aladdin memories. Internet clowned the design for Will Smith’s Genie, and Maui’s getting the same treatment. Then the general audience don’t care and will make a billion anyway.

With the original Moana and Moana 2 really popular on Disney Plus, the live action Moana looks like it’ll make as much but not as near as the 2nd film had

I’m thinking 700m-800m. Still big numbers but I don’t see where this outgrosses Moana 2 with how middling it was received. It also might have a “it’s too soon effect” that might have a negative effect.
Also calling it right now the Tangled remake makes a billion.

When it comes to Moana (2026) the only thing i care about is the second weekend drop and whether or not it can beat The Odyssey.

I think this looks awful but I also think 900-1 billion will likely happen.
