fun fact: Row K is named in reference to what the founders thought is the best row at the movies.

Personally I really can’t think of a theater where Row K is ever the best row.

  2. Uh oh, lmao. As usual in cases such as this (read: STX, FilmDistrict, TWC, Overture, MGM mid-bankruptcy), a whole slew of others will descend like vultures to snap up whatever can make them money. Perhaps that *Cliffhanger* reboot no one wants will end up at Sony’s TriStar after all. Hard to definitively say about the others, but expect Lionsgate and Amazon MGM to fight for as many as they can. Vertical, too.

    R.I.P Row K. 2025-2026.

I knew that they weren’t going to be around for long considering how the founder literally tanked a whole production company with Worldview (the Birdman studio). Not surprised by this news.

EDIT: As of right now, Row K has already moved Poetic License from May 15 to October 16, with the film being surrounded by Paramount’s release of Legendary’s Street Fighter and the Disney/20th thriller Whalefall.

  4. Have no idea why anyone would set up a new distribution company. Small indie films just don’t make money anymore and A24/Neon have cornered the market on arthouse fare
