Out of these two, I think Avengers is the one that will move, potentially to late-April 2027. Dune is getting all of the IMAX and a majority of the PLF screens in the first place and I heard rumors that Doomsday still needs some major reshoots/new scenes done (which will take over 2 months to shoot). Disney’s summer 2027 is also kinda of bare as well, with only Star Wars and Bluey in that corridor.
It’s for the best to delay one of these movies considering how WB had the slot first.

Disney doesn’t move films back unless there’s a production reason to. WB / Legendary has a three week IMAX contract for Dune. I don’t see either side blinking barring some “unforeseen” filming or editing issues

Hollywood Reporter electing to use a picture of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor from 2011 for some reason. Timothee Chalomet would have been fourteen years old when that photo was taken.
Dune deserves to stay put. They had the date first… fair and square. What if Disney swapped Doomsday and Hexed’s release dates? It would interesting to see how an Avengers movie might perform over Thanksgiving.
Why not move doomsday up to thanksgiving?

Neither are moving, let it go, Hollywood. Just have to hope theaters can accommodate the capacity constraints, especially in the first few days.
Doomsday should move to a latter date so it can get IMAX and other PLFs
Imagine seating in the theater for Avengers and you hear LOUD bombastic Hans Zimmer music playing from another auditorium, and then you realize it’s Dune 3.
And that folks might happen during Avengers Dunesday.
I think they should do this
Move Hexed to Ice Age 6s date on February 5th 2027
Move Avengers Doomsday into the thanksgiving 2026 spot held by Hexed
Move up Ice age 6 to its original December 18th release spot (Angry Birds won’t pose any problems for it)
Avengers should move back to May 2027 and open the summer movie season, just like every Avengers or Marvel movie has in the past. This makes the most sense imo.
People saying Avengers should move to Thanksgiving for IMAX screens forget that IMAX have a locked deal with Netflix for the Narnia exclusive IMAX run then. Avengers ain’t moving to November. At most, MAYBE Disney works out swapping dates with Sony and Doomsday moves up to Dec 11th with a week of IMAX and then Dune 3 and Jumanji 4 open on Dec 18th. But I don’t see that as likely either. Stupid or not, it really seems like Dunesday is happening
People saying Doomsday should move up: it’s not happening. They pushed this movie because production was a mess I doubt they’re going to have the leeway to cut down the extra post production time a full month. It got delayed for a reason.
Imagine if the day is just…underwhelming as fuck for both movies.
I hope theaters dont lose money like anyone. But man would that be a fun fuck you to the studios
