Frankenstein getting good looks in technical categories is pretty nice, can’t be mad at that

So deserved, Jacob looked so fucking good as The Monster

Another expected win tbh, really glad they’re taking home the Oscars for costumes and make-up, big win for those departments, they absolutely crushed other nominees in both categories.

Del Toro takes aesthetic *very* important!

Great he went old school with the speech and then lost his glasses! Great stuff!
And again the “Get off the stage” music was way too early!

Tbh the makeup of the monster looked a bad in day scenes.
Looked like plastic

When you hear figures like 400 hours in makeup for one performer (11 hours each day), you can understand why a lot of filmmakers are eager to replace makeup effects with CGI, even if it usually looks worse.

Why are yall restricting posts to just Oscar posts :/

They put a lot of effort into that. Well deserved.

This wasn’t just horror — it felt like anxiety on screen.

Nice.

Not unlike KPop Demon Hunters, I haven’t watched it because I don’t have Netflix, but I shouldn’t have been all that surprised that it won, even though my admittedly somewhat biased heart was rooting for Elvira von Stesøster. Honestly, the fact that she was even fucking *nominated* is a win in and of itself!

Does anyone know what Mike Hill said that was censored at the very beginning of his speech?

Well deserved. That kind of makeup is its own performance.
If the creature look sells the emotion and the pain, the whole movie works better. I love seeing crafts get real love on Oscar night.

Give Oscar the Oscar and I’ll be happy
