2017 — I’m in an elevator in NYC, my first day back in office since my wife delivered our baby. Two guys get on the elevator with me. I’m reasonably certain that it’s the Coen brothers — there was a rumor they’d been doing production for Buster Scruggs in our building — but i’m not *sure* it’s them. (Who else would be wearing a denim jacket from the Stockholm Film Festival?) I wanted to tell them “We just had a baby, but I’m not nervous because I’ve seen Raising Arizona 40 times.” But like I said, I’m not sure it’s them. I get on my phone and try to do a google image search for them, but the reception was lousy in that elevator. Finally it comes up — yup it’s them. And they’d gotten off one floor earlier. I still kick myself.
