People in my audience cheered when Courtney Cox showed up.

    Gale walkups will be strong.

Scream 7’s $64m is not just the 2nd biggest opening of any slasher, but also the 7th biggest opening of a horror film ever:

    1. *It* (2017) – $123m
    2. *It: Chapter Two* (2019) – $91m
    3. *The Conjuring: Last Rites* (2025) – $84m
    4. *Five Nights at Freddy’s* (2023) – $80m
    5. *Halloween* (2018) – $76m
    6. *Us* (2019) – $71m
    7. ***Scream 7*** (2026) – $64m
    8. *Five Nights at Freddy’s 2* (2025) – $61m
    9. *Hannibal* (2001) – $58m
    10. *The Nun* (2018) – $53m

That’s pretty good. Should end up between 300-400 mil. at the end of its run.

This is gonna have a franchise record drop. This is five nights at Freddy’s 2 situation. Opened up to 59 million and 110 million ww and ended up barely breaking 200 million ww

  5. With $97MM in box office receipts, Scream becomes a billon-dollar franchise! Now sitting at $1.008B over 7 movies

All confirming that Neve Campbell was right and she was worth what she was asking for. 10 million payday for Scream VIII.

I’m kinda amazed at how they managed this! The movie is fun, but it’s not exactly getting good critical reviews. I also thought that the “boycott” that users on Letterboxd are very vocal about might work against it. Apparently the opposite.

Another case of the internet not being real life I suppose!

  8. Obviously amazing opening, but it’s always interesting to see the OS reception to slashers. They love horror movies, but for whatever reason this subgenre just doesn’t work for as much for them. I can’t really figure out why. It can’t even be the gore because FD: Bloodlines made 179 OS last year.

All them Jenna Ortega fans thought it was going to bomb without her. Smhhhhhh

  10. Between this and the breakout horror sequels last year (Final Destination and Conjuring 4, FNAF 2) and originals (Sinners, Weapons) as well as Send Help, it seems like were almost in a prime era for horror movies, both at box office and reception.

    This is amazing.

Should be able to pass 200M globally, becoming by far the highest grossing SCREAM film of all time.

    Scream 8 should come soon.

  12. Mental numbers. $20M more domestically than VI did. Depending on how the next few weekends go could top $200M worldwide.

  13. The biggest 3-day weekend of the year prior to this one was Wuthering Heights’ $32.8MM. Scream 7 basically doubled it

This was beyond atrocious and extremely boring, could’ve passed for a lifetime movie.

Now they will make the Scram! spin-off about Oscar the Grouch. Only problem is he’s not really murderous, just kind of grouchy

Scream 5 & 6 brought a whole new generation of new fans and honestly it was the best offering when I went to see it on friday.

  17. $97.2MM is 45% higher than Scream 6’s opening weekend worldwide ($67.1MM)

Scream 6 finished at $169MM. Scream 7 going over $200MM+ worldwide is a guarantee

The movie was absolutely trash, BY FAR, the worst of the 7 but hey I love slashers so at least this means they’ll probably get another crack at it
