  1. Compared to Emerald Fennell’s films, it’s below *Promising Young Woman* (B+), but better than *Saltburn* (B–).

I wonder how much of that is from people expecting a standard classic literature adaptation and not getting it and how much of it is from Saltburn fans who expected this to be a lot more smutty than it was.

  3. Ouch. Rough start for WB’s winter tent pole. But given the reviews, it’s not hard to understand the sheer rejection here.

Kinda exactly where I expected, if not slightly better, but the thing is I feel like this being weighed down by it being a “just fine, it’s entertaining enough” type of B whereas her other films were divisive–VERY loved or very hated which imo generates more viewers than a “wait to catch it on streaming” type vibe this film is getting

  5. I watched it and I was a fan of Saltburn. I expected something similar to that. This movie is really tame in comparison. Not hot or sexy at all. It was very boring. I dont think the Bridgerton and Booktok girls will like it much.

  6. The Housemaid got the same score and everyone was dooming saying it would be the end of it…

  7. B is meh for the genre, according to BOT. The Housemaid also had a B with a decent run. Under a B would have been disaster.

  8. Considering the fire and fury being leveled online this is not bad at all.

I think this thing has no legs but then explodes on streaming.
