Now this is a movie i will be very much so looking forward to. The Mummy 1 and 2 are some of my biggest comfort food movies.
Great to see they got both Fraser and Weisz back. Wouldn’t feel the same without one of them.

This is a gonna be a big hit. The nostalgia wins.
Very happy they are back.

This one honestly feels like a $600m+ domestic grosser. The next Jurassic World for Universal.

So will this be ignoring the Mummy 3 and instead be a new Mummy 3 or will it be the Mummy 4?

Unironically hyped for this film. The nostalgia is there. If itβs even half way decent I think it will do very well. Has a great Summer release date too. Very exciting!Β

They should bring in Tom Cruise too.

Surprised how optimistic everyone seems to be about this, I wouldnβt be surprised to see it play out like Dial of Destiny.

Just glad this means the rides at Universal can stay/get updated for the new installment if this is successful

For reference, the numbers for the franchise (unadjusted):
Movie | Year | Domestic Total | Overseas Total | Worldwide Total | Budget |
:——–:|:——–:|:——–:|:——–:|:——–:|:——–:
*The Mummy* | 1999 | $157,095,368 | $260,547,918 | $417,643,286 | $80M
*The Mummy Returns* | 2001 | $202,019,785 | $241,261,119 | $443,284,916 | $98M
*The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor* | 2008 | $102,491,776 | $300,958,054 | $403,449,830 | $145M
Needless to say, $400 million is pretty much guaranteed. Now it’s a matter of seeing how high it can go.
Also please get John Hannah and Oded Fehr back.

I’m afraid it won’t be the success everyone expects. More than a nostalgia effect, I think it will have an audience like the last Indiana Jones. The new generations don’t know this saga at all.

***Fast Forever*** – Mar 17, 2028 *(St. Patrick’s Day)*
***Mummy 4*** – May 19, 2028
***Jurassic World 5*** – June 9, 2028 (rumored)
Probably something else for Easter weekend and Independence Day weekend added to the roster
with rumored *Donkey spin-off movie* and *Donkey Kong movie* slated for 2028 along with, presumably, animated *Kung Fu Panda 5* and *The Bad Guys 3* also in 2028 with Uni also distributing *Bond 26* internationally also hitting 2028 (probably November)
Universal to have a killer 2028.

I jerked it A LOT to her in the first movie when I was a teenager
Do we know why this was greenlit? Feels like a weird choice. Are there a lot of Mummy-heads out there that was waiting for this last 20 years?

this will be interesting. I don’t mean to be rude in saying this, but brendan fraser doesn’t have the same leading man physique he had back then. I actually think rachel weisz is still quite beutiful even if older. when harrison ford came back for indy 4, he was 65 years old, about 8 years old than fraser is, but harrison looked fit and looked like indy, just older. he never really stopped being an action leading man after all, even while indy was on hiatus. fraser does not look like rick o’connel anymore. now, they can either put that into the script, or have him go a trasnformative fitness process, which I’m not sure is possible considering his injuries. I just hope it doesn’t become like a joke, having an overweight and out-of-shape 57 yo as that same action here from 20+ years ago.
