For me, it would be Matrix Resurrections. It just came out too late, and the hype or the name “Matrix” isn't something that generates excitement among audiences. I know it came out at the same time as No Way Home, and it came out on HBO Max the same day it came out in theaters, but let's be honest, it wouldn't have done any better. Hype for the IP is probably officially dead, unless the next installment is a 1:1 remake with more of a John Wick style, but it won't be. What do you think, or what movies would you put in the title?

Ik its not out yet but I feel mandalorian and grogu they waited too long

    But we’ll see

  2. Furiosa is a prequel about a character that released too late. Should’ve released in 2018/ 2019 at the latest.

Also, I feel the entire plot outside of Furiosa’s childhood origins could have just been used for a sequel with Charlize if George Miller really wanted it to be. Hemsworth’s character could have just been someone who challenged her control of the Citadel and she tried to make peace before realizing peace would be impossible with him. And Tom Hardy could have showed up in the third act or something.

  3. I actually fw with the first 30 mins of Resurrections. The next 2 hrs didn’t commit to the promised audacity and fell flat

Thunderbolts would’ve made more if it were the last movie of Phase 4 in late 2022. It obviously wouldn’t be as successful as Wakanda Forever, but it makes more sense as a bookend. The majority of the main cast was introduced in that phase and it would atleast make it feel like Phase 4 was building up to something. Plus it solves the issue of the movie coming out 4 years after the characters were last seen

  5. Warcraft would have probably done better at the height of WoW popularity (2008-2012 with the time to do the movie)

Every DC movie released in 2023.

Shazam 2, Aquaman 2, The Flash and even Blue Beetle probably would’ve all done far better had they come out a few years earlier.

  7. I don’t think the matrix resurrections was too late.

I think it was never going to be what people wanted due to the unique direction the creator took in making it.

I knew without watching any trailers that it was going to be a step down in terms of spectacle because of how quickly they made the film.

For the Matrix and the Reloaded/Revolutions films there was groundbreaking and extensive stunt work…even a sort of fake highway was constructed for the grand action scene in the second film!

No such thing or aspirations in the 4th film.

  8. I mean, I think the main problem with Matrix Resurrections was that it was too bad, not that it was too late…🤷🏾‍♂️

Dial of Destiny is one of the first that comes to mind that I haven’t read so far

  10. A Star Wars animated movie about Anakin and Obi-Wan would have made bank back in the 90s. If it got great reception then it would have done unpredecented numbers for a non-Disney animated movie.

The movie we eventually got in 2008 had low production values, a rushed and jumbled script, and a fanbase that was either satiated or angered by the Prequel Trilogy.

  11. Basically anything based on eighties nostalgia is now too late. The eighties stuff had a good long run, but that generation doesn’t have kids to take to the theater anymore.

-Bumblebee, Rise of the Beasts, and Transformers One.

-Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

    -Ghostbusters Frozen Empire

    -Predator Badlands.

And soon, Masters of the Universe (but I actually want this movie to rock and do well for my own selfish reasons).

  12. Black Widow.

not actually failed but if it was released 3-5 years sooner it would make banks and would add a lot more sympathy to Natasha’s death. even though it did flood theaters with people’s tears at that time already.

I feel like a lot of the superhero films that either underperformed or flopped from around 2022 to 2023 would have done a lot better, had they been made like 5 years earlier.

Everyone loves The Matrix. It’s one of the greatest trilogies of all time.
