There’s no way to sugarcoat it: those results are pretty brutal. They’re also about in line with what I was expecting, after how much the movie had been freefalling domestically. This movie isn’t just collapsing in America, it’s collapsing all across the world.
can’t blame the weather when audiences all over the world reject this movie as well.
Great film, but it had absolutely abysmal matketing.
If they promoted this better, it would’ve made more at the box office.
A friend of mine found out there is a sequel to 28YL one day before the movie came out… Because I told him.

I fucking loved this movie (and I really liked the previous one as well), this really sucks 🙁
This and 28YL are cases where I just have to acknowledge my personal taste is not the same as the general public’s. Hope they can be convinced to give Boyle whatever they consider a reasonable budget and finish it, I’d love to see Cillian again.
Remember when years came out and people tried to say that it was only dumb Americans that didn’t like it. The international audience has actual taste!

There have been so many multi-part movies released in recent years.
“Fast X” (2023), “Across the Spiderverse” (2023), and “Horizon Chapter One” (2024).
At least “28 Years Later” (2025) was able to get the second entry out – *like “Dead Reckoning Part One” (2023) did two years later with “The Final Reckoning” (2025)* – here in January with “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple” (2026).
It remains to be seen whether it gets its third instalment, though, the way that the three The Strangers (2024, 2025, 2026) movies will get later this year.
feels like there were a few issues with this one
* came out way too close
* people didn’t like the last one (people are wrong that last one was a masterpiece)
* didn’t account for people with adblockers when marketing this
* severely overestimated the size of the 28 days later fandom
that being said please make another one the last two were incredible please finish the trilogy i swear more people will show up next time now they know the films are actually really good-
This may end under the Running Man. That is just sad.
