$27M more to get to $400M, but the fact that it can’t be called a “lock” is crazy for an Avatar film.

Very good number considering the heavy storms. Good indication of strong legs for next week and weekend. 450 final. James Cameron does it again. 💰 💰 💰 💰

One other factor this now has going against it, this doesn’t get a potential Oscars bump, being the first Avatar film to not get nominated for Best Picture.

What a disappointing domestic run. A massive drop in gross and tickets sold vs Avatar2

Crazy how this won’t even make as much as the Rise of Skywalker or Wonder Woman

Last week I said Avatar’s Fri hold was very disappointing despite the circumstances. It had many things going for it, MLK weekend, not too much PLF loss, Bone Temple flopping etc. Yet it still held worse than most other films which was concerning.

This week, pretty much everything went against it with the bad weather, PLF loss and stronger new competition with Mercy. So in that context this is actually not too bad of a hold. Hopefully it can recover strongly next weekend.

Still trying to catch up the $400M DOM mark although winter storms are affecting parts of the states that might see a recovery for Avatar 3 next weekend once the storms clear up

  8. Yeah I don’t see a 8 million weekend with these result. It could have a better drop next weekend so 400 million is like 50/50 at this point.
