Last movie bombed, dude’s pushing 90, and recasting the character would more than likely be controversial

Probably best to focus on the games

It’s for the best. Unless and until Steven Spielberg has a killer idea for Dr. Jones he just can’t quit, America’s favorite archeologist needs to have a long, long vacation from the big screen. Possibly a permanent one.

This is news? They already said as much like twice by early 2024, where was this writer the last two years?

Indiana Jones probably needs to be shelved for 50 years at this point. wait til everyone with any meaningful memories of Ford in the role are gone and then maybe you can reboot it
edit: for movies anyway. keep the video games coming

No way you can rebound after Dial of Destiny.

Honestly Indy 4&5 shouldn’t have been made but gotta keep the rights from expiring I guess

There was never any need to make another after The Last Crusade. I did enjoy the Dial of Destiny but as a screenwriter I was thrilled that it bombed. They need to stop reviving IPs that finished a long time ago and bring us something new.

The game was a success.

“Long hiatus”?? Just let the franchise end already. It had its moment, and not everything needs to be milked to death.

I’ve known that since July 2023. Unlike with Star Wars, Disney can’t really milk the franchise as Harrison Ford is an integral part to what makes the films special (at least the first three). With this franchise, Disney has the shorter end of the stick (film wise) as Paramount still owns the first four Indiana Jones films.

Keep it as a video game franchise for a good while. The Great Circle was phenomenal. Hoping for a sequel.

Unpopular opinion but I think Indiana Jones can’t work in movie format anymore, not when they cost $200M+
Best thing to do is reboot the franchise but as a TV series. Percy Jackson has found great success on streaming, maybe it’s time for Indy to explore a different format and audience.

James Mangold has a lot giant bombs and underperformers but is never put in directors jail, helps to be a studio yes man at times.

I think pretty much everybody knew that was going to be the case after Dial of Destiny released. Dial was a movie I like – in fact it’s my 3rd favorite in the series especially after I made a fanedit of it to address some of the issues I had and really grew to appreciate the move more than I had originally – but it was a massive financial failure largely because of the cost. It’s a franchise that needs to go dormant for a long time and get a fresh complete reboot without Harrison Ford in order to survive in the 21st century.

Click farm article. Look at OP’s post history they only post articles from theentertainmentdesk. Nobody knows what the hell that site is lmao.

Should have just rebooted. Lots of cool stories to be told with a 30-40 year old Indy. Do something in Egypt with Mummies like the Young Indiana Jones movie that launched the series.

Only way it would happen in the near future is if MCU and Star Wars movies way overperform.

Introducing aliens into the franchise killed it for me. I have zero interest in any more Indy movies after that.

Just end the franchise. Last 2 movies were awful!

Should have made a Short Round movie, Simu Lui(?), with a few cameos by Ford in the ways of Stark in Spiderman.

wasn’t the last one already advertised as the final installment leading up to the release? this is old news
