top tier horror cinemascore wonder if Wom can help it or was the first one too divisive for audiences to still be interested

  2. Better than *28 Years Later* (B) and Nia DaCosta’s best rating, above *Candyman* and *The Marvels* (both got a B).

One of the few horror films to crack the A range! Absolutely insane! For the curious, these cracked A–: *An American Werewolf in London*, *Wolfen*, *The Lost Boys*, *Child’s Play 2*, *Misery*, *The Silence of the Lambs*, *The Sixth Sense*, *The Conjuring*, *The Conjuring 2*, *Get Out*, *A Quiet Place Part II*, *Five Nights at Freddy’s* and *Weapons*. And only 3 got an A (*Poltergeist*, *Aliens* and *Sinners*).

    Excellent grade!

B+ was the best it could see, but an A- is a vast improvement over Years’ B. Hoping for some legs after the underwhelming debut.

Ever since Sinners, we’ve been getting horror films in the A/A-range recently from that to Weapons and now Bone Temple.

I greatly enjoyed this (and the last one), but I was really curious to see how the last portion would hit the general audience. Seems like they enjoyed it!

Oh wow. Maybe this will give it a bump from the current weekend outlook and/or beyond

  6. I think this will have a weak opening due to an obviously smaller marketing here and reception from the last having people on standby, but I think this will have great legs I’m hoping anywhere between 3.4-3.8x would be good enough since the last only did a 2.5x a pretty big drop after a huge opening

  7. Happy for Nia DaCosta. Glad Danny Boyle was willing to share directing duties, which appears to have paid off!

Even if it doesn’t do that well this weekend next weekend could still be a strong hold with good WOM. This isn’t as frontloaded as other horror as the fan rush has been muted due to the mixed response to the previous film.

Wouldn’t a box office bomb be a industry first for a A- horror movie.

Can’t really think of other examples.

Checks out. Love the movie and it having a Good (Fiennes) and an Evil (O’Connell) coming to conflict makes it an easier sell for general audiences. Think this will have good word of mouth and might have an underperforming opening weekend but will make up for it in the long run.

  11. Hopefully this means it legs out like Weapons. If this movie doesn’t get to $100m WW, the next sequel might be cooked

  12. Cast the guy from sinners to be the villain of your horror movie

    Watch the CinemaScore explode

  13. If y’all want theaters to thrive then you’ll go watch this movie. This is up there for one of the best horrors in the last decade, EASY
